The main weather feature to impact your day today is a 960 mb low just south of Kodiak Island that is weakening as it moves toward PWS.  The occluded front has swung onshore in Southcentral and it pushing its way into Southeast.  Snow and rain increased overnight and have been heavy at times in PWS and the eastern Kenai Peninsula.  Moderate the heavy rain (initially starting out as snow for some of the inner channels) is filling in in SE as an upper jet directs moisture into that region.

Behind the low center is the wrap-around precipitation.  Snow and rain showers are in store for the AK Peninsula, with snow showers in the northern Bristol Bay and lower Kuskokwim regions.  Periods of wet snow or rain are possible in the Aleutians, although showers will be more spotty than they will be over mainland Alaska.

Cloud will increase from south to north over the Interior but little if any snow is expected.  Highs will reach the single digits in northern Interior valleys to 20s around Denali Park.

With the mid to low level flow around the the Kodiak low coming out of the southeast, precipitation will be greatly restricted along Cook Inlet today.  As the low pulls northeastward and weakens tonight, we may get in on some of the wrap-around moisture.  So, look for light snow in Anchorage and the Valley toward tomorrow morning then a chance of snow throughout the day.

Snow will total from a trace to 3 inches in the Bowl through tomorrow.
