FAIRBANKS, Alaska—
F-16 fighter jets based at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks will be relocated to Anchorage.The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (http://bit.ly/xBJ5MW) the transfer to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage was detailed in a report the newspaper received Friday from the military.
The report says the transfer will allow the Air Force "to achieve savings in base support at Eielson" beginning in fiscal year 2015.
The Air Force document is titled "USAF Force Structure Changes: Sustaining Readiness and Modernizing the Total Force."
